PMG Creates Eco-Friendly Marketing Concept for Saturn Mobile Event Tour
September 14, 2009
CARMEL, Ind., September 14, 2009 - There are some companies that talk about going green and reducing their carbon footprint, and then there are companies that actually do something about it. Carmel-based Performance Marketing Group (PMG) is a company making a difference by moving toward, and implementing, eco-friendly programs for its clients.

Working in conjunction with GM's Saturn division, PMG has designed, constructed and activated three environmentally friendly display units for the Saturn Mobile Event Tour that utilize solar-panel-generated energy to power various elements of the display. The Saturn Mobile Event Tour is one of the first mobile-marketing displays in North America to utilize solar energy. Sun power enables the PMG-managed displays to use significantly less carbon-generated energy compared to past mobile-marketing activation methods.

"It is truly remarkable what our staff was able to create," said Bill Bissmeyer, vice president, Performance Marketing Group. "Saturn was looking for something completely different. They wanted to attract large crowds of potential car buyers, but at the same time, they wanted the displays to be environmentally friendly, something everyone is concerned about these days. We moved very quickly from the conceptual phase to actual activation using the solar-panel concept, and the results have been incredible."

Each unit of the eco-friendly display is towed by the Saturn Outlook, which has the best fuel economy of any eight-passenger crossover on the road - proof that big can be smart. PMG customized all of the interactive displays in-house including modifications to three Airstream Basecamp trailers, design and tailoring of display awnings, and installation of solar panels and wireless networking. PMG selected iMac computers (for their low environmental-impact characteristics), and low-energy consumption, flat-screen LED monitors to help extend the life of the battery cells. During inclement weather, the battery cells can supply power for each unit for up to three days.

"Working on this project has been a great experience," said Gabe Euratte, mobile-marketing program manager at PMG. "We were given the creative latitude to apply new ideas and technological concepts that we know are going to make a difference. It's very gratifying when you see the surprise and amazement of consumers when they see everything that the Saturn Mobile Event Tour can do."

This year, the Saturn Mobile Event tour will make a stop at approximately 72 locations throughout the United States. Find out where you can see the display by logging onto www.pmgincorporated.com.
